Mad as a Marine Biologist

High-res This is a Trilobite beetle. In it’s larval form. Or it’s a female, because they stay in their larval form forever. The male metamorphoses into a small red winged beetle [how do they mate?].
They are related to Fire Flies [actually a beetle not a fly], and those oranges bits, they be glowing!
They are named after the Trilobite, a crustacean found ALL OVER the fossil record until a sudden and abrupt disappearance/extinction.
Again, photo thanks to the boyfriend  #handibles
