Komodo ‘11: Day One
Risking life and limb, the party clambered in to a small propeller plane. Indonesian domestic flights haven’t got the best track record in the world, and, no joke, there were prayers in the in-flight magazine for safe travel for various religions!
The view was stunning the entire way from Bali to Flores. We passed the volcano at Lombok, and several of Indonesia’s 11, 000 islands. You could see the remnants of volcanic craters drowned by rising sea levels, and on approach to Flores, the reefs fringing the islands, and waters so clear you could see the drop off’s!
Excitement uncontainable!
